Wes Ray Jernigan, 60, passed away Friday April 24, 2026 at his home in Marion, Virginia.

Wes was born in the Pacific Northwest where he loved spending his time kayaking and hiking and he also was a huge Seattle Seahawks fan. A few other things Wes loved to do was target shooting, building guns, and reading. One of his favorites he would love to read was Sherlock Holmes. He also loved movies such as Monty Python and also the comic strip Calvin and Hobbs which helps show his amazing sense of humor. He also had a very large Hot Wheels collection. Wes worked as an over the road truck driver for over 20 years. Another interesting job he enjoyed in the early 1990’s was working on the set of “Terminator 2” and “The Doctor” as a stage manager. He was very loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Jernigan; aunt, Patricia Babcock; cousins, Michael Babcock and Bill Babcock

Wes is survived by his daughter, Avery Jernigan and partner, Andrew of Marion VA; former wife and primary caregiver, Amy Jernigan; sisters, Sandee York of Caney KS, Wendy Raynor and fiancé, Patrick Bovin of Marion VA; brother, Benjamin Jernigan of Macon GA; nieces and nephews, Devon York, Sarah Garcia and husband, Dual, Katherine Raynor and partner, Steven, and Robert Isaac Raynor; special friends, George Hendricks and Neal Hallford; other family, Patricia Murphy, Robin Hunter, and Mara Loggans; a host of other cousins, aunts, and uncles.
