Marion, Va. / Belmont Miss.
Walter Eugene Farris age 92, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024 at his home in Belmont, Mississippi.
Walt had his priorities straight – God, family and country. He was married to the love of his life, Edith for 72 years and raised a wonderful family. He served proudly in the United States Army where he served in Korea as a Communications Specialist where he left earning four bronze campaign stars, the Presidents Unit Citation and the UN Service Medal; and returned home to suffer the effects of malaria. Walt worked with Brunswick for almost 40 years and retired to live out the rest of his days with Edith. There are many ways to do things, but Walt only knew of one – the right way. Today Heaven must be sweeter with more family reunited with Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 72 years, Edith Crewey Farris; parents, Grant and Ada Farris; siblings, Mable Wagner, Alice Debord, Virginia Farris, Charles Farris and Bill Farris.
Walter is survived by his daughter, Darlene Hickman and husband, Rick of Knoxville, Tenn.; sons, Dennis Farris and wife, Linda of Marion, Va., Jeff Farris and wife, Rhonda of Belmont, Miss., Todd Farris and wife, Melody of Big Stone Gap, Va.; sister-in-law, Louise Thompson and husband, Bill of Marion, Va.; brother, Earl Farris and wife, Nancy of Kingsport, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Jason, Sara, Michelle, Crystal, Tanner, Taylor, Nick, Jay and Jeremy; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and their families.
