Steve D. Ward age 67, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at his home.
Steve was a hard worker & businessman at a very early age – owning his own lawnmower shop at 10 years old. And it didn’t stop there – in his life Steve owned his own equipment business, drove a tractor trailer & owned his own rig & trailer, was a GM Master Mechanic and fixed everyone in the family’s cars, had his pilot’s license & flew from Mountain Empire often. He truly was a Jack of all Trades. Steve’s family meant the world to him, his children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren were the light of his life & apples of his eye. When he wasn’t busy working or spending quality time with his family Steve enjoyed deep sea fishing & scuba diving in the Florida Keys.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ward; mother, Georgia Ward Matney; step-father, William Jennings Matney; brothers, Tommy, Danny & Roger Ward; sister, Patricia Diane Marshall; infant brother Donnie; infant sister, Judy; mother-in-law, Eva A. Jones Henderson; mother-in-law, Eva A. Jones Henderson; brother-in-law, Curtis Warren.
Steve is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beverly Ann Ward; daughter, Debbie Mullins; son, Eric Ward (Michelle); brothers-in-law, Johnny Marshall & Joe Allen Warren; brother, David Ward; sister-in-law, Kathy Ward; grandchildren, Ashlyn Jones (Nathan), Rachel Sheets, Grayson Ward, Savannah Ward, Phoenix Ward & Mazzy Martin; great-grandchildren, Karalena Jones (his Hurricane) & Alayna Jones (his Cutiepie); numerous nieces & nephews & their families; special friends, Ronnie Preston & the staff of Marion Automotive Group, Lewis Shortt & Jeff Sweat; and a host of many other friends.
Family will receive friends Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Fraziers' Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion VA. A celebration of Steve's life will begin at 8 p.m. with an invitation for family & friends to share stories, laughs & tears & what Steve meant to them.
