Shirley Ann Jessee Dotson, born September 13, 1967, in Alexandria, Virginia, to the late Kyle Edward Jessee & late Bertha Wyatt Jessee Surber, raised in Meadowview, Virginia by her paternal grandmother, Madge Austin Jessee, passed away on June 16, 2026, at Abingdon Health & Rehab Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful friend, Shirley touched countless lives through her kindness, compassion, and unwavering strength. Her warm smile, generous heart, and unfaltering faith were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
Throughout her illness, Shirley faced each day with remarkable grace, courage, and determination. Her resilience reflected the deep faith that guided her life, and she remained steadfast in her trust in God until the very end. She exemplified perseverance and taught those around her the true meaning of strength and hope.
Having spent most of her adult life in Marion, Virginia, Shirley devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family and her faith. She was a dedicated member of Berry Creek Independent Baptist Church of Abingdon, Virginia, where she formed many treasured friendships and faithfully served her church community. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time camping and enjoying the outdoors with her beloved husband and dear church friends.
Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy of love, faith, kindness, and strength will continue to live on through the family she cherished so deeply. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Johnny Dotson; her daughter, Brittany (Justin) Havens; her son, Johnny Lee (Brittany) Dotson; her cherished granddaughters, Morgan, Spencer, and Avery Havens; her sisters, Lisa (Junior) Dotson; Tina Powell; Sheila Abbott; Angie (Gary) Stewart; and a wide circle of extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Kenneth Jessee; Stewart Surber.

Services will be Thursday June 18, 2026 at 12 p.m. at Fraziers' Seaver Brown Chapel, Marion VA. The family will recieve friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Justin Havens, Lisa Dotson, Michael Dotson, Justin Dotson, Mark McNew and Matt McNew will serve as pallbearers. Junior Dotson will serve as honorary pallbearer.
