Ruth Simmerman

RUTH ANN FIRESTONE SIMMERMAN, age 70, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 in Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Virginia. She was a member of the Windsor Baptist Church, and the secretary and treasurer of the W.M.U, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister that will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Blanche Delp Firestone, and a sister, Linda Firestone. Mrs. Simmerman is survived by her husband, James R. Simmerman of Windsor, Virginia. One daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Roger Robinson of Marion, Virginia. One grandson, Roger Robinson, Jr. of Bristol, Virginia. One granddaughter, Kelly Robinson of Marion, Virginia. Three sisters, Lorettta Sutherland and Bonnie Meadows both of Marion, Virginia, and Brenda Umbarger of Atkins, Virginia. Five brothers, Harvey Firestone, Jr. of Roanoke, Virginia; William S. Firestone, Robert H. Firestone, and Steve Firestone all of Marion, Virginia; and Herbert L. Firestone of Atkins, Virginia. Her mother-in-law, Myrtle Simmerman of Groseclose, Virginia. One step-son, James Robert Simmerman, Jr. of Monroe, North Carolina. Two step-daughters, Debra K. Thomas and Linda Simmerman both of Charlotte, North Carolina. One step-grandson, Travis Thomas of Charlotte, North Carolina. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in West End Cemetery, Wytheville, Virginia. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel or anytime at the home of Roger and Kay Robinson, 244 Grubmore Road, Marion, Virginia 24354.
