Marion, Va.
Ronald “Ron” Dee Howell age 73, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his home.
Ron was born in 1949, one of five children of the late Ward and Katherine Howell. He was proud Army Veteran, having served his country in the Vietnam War. If you ever went bowling in Marion, you probably met Ron working at Hurricane Bowl. He retired as Maintenance Supervisor from Utility Trailer in Atkins after many years of dedicate employment. When Ron wasn’t working you might find him spending time at “the cabin”, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. If you had to keep Ron inside, you could keep him entertained with NASCAR (in the Dale Earnhardt days), VT Hokie football and his beloved Raiders (no matter what city they were in.) His quick wit, and twinkle in his eyes when he smiled will be missed by those who knew and loved Ron.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Louise.
Ron is survived by his son, Jason Dee Howell of Marion, Va.; sisters, Linda Meadows (Danny) and Janie McCready; brothers, Scotty Howell (Harriet) and David Howell (Pam), all of Marion, Va.; several grandchildren, including Austin and Dylan; several nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, Tabatha King of Marion, Va.; and furbaby dog, Emily.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 5 until 7 p.m. with services beginning at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion, Va.
