Ronald Burris

ATKINS, VIRGINIA: RONALD FOSTER BURRIS, age 78, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 in Smyth County Community Hospital. Born August, 3, 1926 to the late Bayse and Lalla Burris he attended |Atkins Baptist Church, and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict having served in the United States Army. He retired from Virginia House Furniture and worked at Atkins Grocery. Mr. Burris was also an avid bird watcher and a great daddy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Burris Knight. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Jim Garrett and Susan Biggs all of Vine Grove, Kentucky. One son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Vickie Powell of Vine Grove, Kentucky. One sister, Elizabeth Evans of Rural Retreat, Virginia. A special friend and companion, Delcie Pennington of Atkins, Virginia. Seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and his dog, Peanut also survives. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 18, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Shupe officiating. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Francis Marion V.F.W. Post #4667. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel
