Ronald Lynn Boardwine, 75, of Atkins, Virginia, passed away at Johnson City Medical Center on June 10, 2026. Ron was a man of faith, known for his unwavering work ethic, and love for his family and his church. Ron enjoyed working on cars and small engines and found much fulfillment doing so.
Born on September 29, 1950, and raised in Corn Valley "The Loop," in Lebanon, Virginia. In his spare time, Ron “Yard Bird” could often be found chatting on the CB radio, working his garden, or enjoying the peace and quiet of a night spent fishing under the stars.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Minnie Boardwine; his brother, Gerald Boardwine; and the mother of his sons, Kathy Boardwine; cousin and lifelong brother, Jesse Helton; brother-in-laws Ralph & David Hall.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Dewayne (Tammy), Tim (Dana), and Tommy (Brandi); his grandchildren, Austin (Breanna), Brooklynn, Ethan, Emma, and Eli; and his great-grandchildren, Colton and Joshua; brother, David (Zelma); sister, Lois Combs (Randall); sister-in-laws, Nancy Shanks, Connie (Charlie) Blizzard, Barbara & Linda Hall; along with many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Johnson City Medical Center ICU team on their compassion, dedicated care and support.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 14, 2026 at 6 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver Brown Chapel with Brother Archie Cook and Brother Robert Crusenberry officiating. Family will receive friends from 5 – 6 p.m. Graveside service will be held Monday, June 15, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Groseclose, Va.
