Roger Dale Gilbert, 68, passed away Friday April 3, 2026 at his home in Marion, Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Fred Evins; sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Gilbert; maternal grandparents, Ozell and Katherline Gilbert; and his paternal grandmother, Roberta Randolph.

Roger is survived by his devoted life partner, Betty Russell; daughters, Carmita Davis, Cissy Fox and husband, Christopher, and Lashay Gilbert; parents, Fred D. and Barbara Sue Gilbert; sisters, Evelyn Bridgeforth and husband, Wayne, Jaquelyn Nattress and husband, John; brothers, Darrell Gilbert and wife, Anita, Tim Gilbert and wife, Rotosha, and Jimmy Gilbert and wife, Mae Joyce; grandchildren, Avery Fox; adopted grandchildren, Jayden McKinney, Aaliyah Mack, and Ezekial Reddick; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Thomas Reddick and James Hiett; and his aunts, Shirley Gipson, Sarah Gilbert, and Deloris Watson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm (CT) at Bennett May and Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11 from 11 AM to 12 PM (CT) at Bennett May and Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
