Roger Dale Gilbert, 68, passed away Friday April 3, 2026 at his home in Marion, Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Fred Evins; sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Gilbert; maternal grandparents, Ozell and Katherline Gilbert; and his paternal grandmother, Roberta Randolph.

Roger is survived by his devoted life partner, Betty Russell; daughters, Carmita Davis, Cissy Fox and husband, Christopher, and Lashay Gilbert; parents, Fred D. and Barbara Sue Gilbert; sisters, Evelyn Bridgeforth and husband, Wayne, Jaquelyn Nattress and husband, John; brothers, Darrell Gilbert and wife, Anita, Tim Gilbert and wife, Rotosha, and Jimmy Gilbert and wife, Mae Joyce; grandchildren, Avery Fox; adopted grandchildren, Jayden McKinney, Aaliyah Mack, and Ezekial Reddick; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Thomas Reddick and James Hiett; and his aunts, Shirley Gipson, Sarah Gilbert, and Deloris Watson.
