Rita Louise Lund, age 62, began a new adventure on Sunday, May 4th, 2025.

Rita was born September 08, 1962 in Bristol, Virginia. She was a wonderful lunch lady for the Washington County Public Schools. She went above and beyond for the students and often showed up to support them. She had many friends that loved her and she them. Rita believed that memories are very important and to collect as many as you can. She loved her family with a fierceness.

She was met by her husband, Michael Lund; her mother and father, Clyde Hillard and Barbara Jackson; her niece, Elizabeth Tynes; nephew, David Hillard, Jr.; and all of her loved ones that went too soon before her.

She left behind her son, Rocky Hilliard and wife, Kayla Koenig Hilliard; grandchildren, Fancy Hilliard, Arlo Ramos, Paige Koenig, Cora Bordwine, and Marilyn White; three great-grandchildren, Jonah Meadows, Autumn Meadows and Salem Koenig Hall; brothers, David Hilliard, Arlin Hilliard and Micheal Hilliard; sister, Sande Jackson Reeves; beloved nieces, Amanda Hilliard and her daughter, Gemma (whom she affectionately called Joe Dirt), Devon Fore and her children, Riley Angulo, Kyla Angulo, Bryce Angulo and Rip Fore, Laura Estep and husband, Todd and their children, Lillie Maddox and Tyler Maddox; her late niece Elizabeth’s children, Wyatt, Luke, Elijah, Cole, and Levi Tynes; longtime friend, Tammy Davis and her life partner, Gwyn Kerr.

A Celebration of Life will be held, Friday, July 04, 2025 at 5 p.m. at her home 29058, Ryan Road, Meadowview, VA 24361.
