Rev. T.D. Burgess age 92, of Ringgold, GA went home to be with the Lord, Friday, February 10, 2023 at his home.

Born in Ft. Payne, Ala., Reverend Burgess was a longtime resident of Chattanooga and N. Georgia. He was called to preach at the age of 14 and was in the ministry for 76 years. He pastored churches in Ft. Payne, Ala., Tulsa, Okla., Chattanooga, Tenn., Chilhowie, Va. and Bristol, Va. before going into full-time evangelism. He was a proud veteran of the US Army.

He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Burgess.

Reverend Burgess is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joy Burgess;  son, Rev. Sammy (Gena) Burgess, Cartersville, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Kandi Burgess, Lenoir, N.C.; grandchildren, Andrew Burgess, Cartersville, Ga. and his children, Cash & Boaz; Josh (Lynsey) Burgess, Hudson, N.C. and their children, Amelia & Austin; Rev. Taylor (Emily) Burgess, Beaufort, S.C. and their children, Gideon, Nolan, & Lincoln; Brittany (Shane) Clawson, Lenoir, SC and their children, Marleigh & Piper.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Rd., Chattanooga, Tenn. Reverend Burgess will lie in state at Calvary Baptist Church, 5201 Dayton Blvd., Red Bank, Tenn. from 10 until 11 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2023. Services will begin at 11 a.m. with Reverend Sammy Burgess, Reverend Ralph Sexton Jr., Reverend Greg Powell, Reverend Taylor Burgess, and Reverend Randy Hobbs officiating. You may view the service on live stream at facebook.com/calvaryredbank. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, Tenn.
