Raymond Lyons, Jr.

RURAL RETREAT, Va.

Raymond (Ray) Lyons, Jr., age 56, died Tuesday, May 3, 2017, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Ray was preceeded in death by his parents, Raymond and Helen Lyons; grandparents, Dewey and Mary McGrady; and an infant brother, Leon Lyons.

Ray was loving and caring husband, dad, brother, uncle and friend. He never met a stranger. Ray knew everybody and everyone knew and loved him. If he wasn't on a riverbank fishing, you would find him in the garage working with wood. He loved sawdust! Ray had a great sense of humor and loved-loved music and always had it playing. Ray lived and loved life. He'll be missed by his family and a ton of friends.

He is survived by his wife, Vanessa Lyons of Chilhowie, Va.; daughters, Christy Lyons and Tifani Doane all of Marion, Va; a son, Dustin Stamper of Marion, Va; two sisters, Mary L. Hawthorne of Rural Retreat, Va. and Ella Wingate and husband, Chris of Sugar Grove, Va.; six grandchildren; two special neices, Ashley Hall and Sheri Heldreth; serveral great neices and nephews and many friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1 p.m.
