Patty Walters Rowland, 83, passed away Wednesday March 4, 2026 at English Meadows in Abingdon, VA.

Patty retired from Merillat Industries after many years of service. She loved working in her flowers, gardening and canning vegetables from her garden. Patty was an excellent cook and her family will always remember the wonderful meals she prepared and shared with them. She especially loved cooking for family during the holidays. More than anything, Patty loved spending time with her girls – going on shopping trips and beach trips with them. She cherished her family and her grandchildren were so precious to her. Patty was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Carroll Rowland; parents, Thomas and Edna Walters; brothers, Elmer Walters and Johnny Walters; sisters, Gaynell Kell and Violet Blevins.

Patty is survived by her daughters, Brenda Rowland Bell (Samuel) and Donna Rowland McCarty (Jackson); sister, Della Hart; brother, Tom Walters, Jr.; grandchildren, Samuel Kent Bell, Evan Walters Bell (Carly), Katherine Grace McCarty Claytor (Connor), Grayson Pate McCarty (Carmen); great-granddaughter, Mavis Ruth McCarty; great-grandson, McCarty Woods Claytor; and a host of beloved friends.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the English Meadows staff and MSA Hospice for the love and care provided for Patty.

Private Graveside services will be held at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery, 231 Redstone Road, Chilhowie, Va.
