Crockett, Va.

Newton Lavon Lowery, age 84, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 at his home.   

 

Lavon is home with Jesus right now and that has been his life goal. His life was exciting and varied in so many ways. Lavon was a true entrepreneur all of his life and enjoyed being with people and helping others through encouragement and prayer.  He was very proud to be part of his men’s prayer group for many years. Lavon loved the mountains and enjoyed living in Southwest Virginia. He was a loving husband, dad and grandfather who will be missed by so many, but he is breathing fresh, Heavenly air today and that is a blessing.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Fannie Lowery and step-mother, Annie Lowery.

 

Lavon is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Joanne Lowery; sons, Lantz Lowery and wife, Mary of Melrose, Fl., Reverend Lane Lowery and wife, Liz of Augusta, Ga., Michael Ware and wife, Lisa of Woodland, Ala.; daughter, Traci Ware of Daytona Beach, Fl.; brother, Jimmy Hargraves of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Keegan Lowery, Nolan Lowery, Marah Saunders, Kaili Mills, Nathan Lowery, Austin Ware, Holton Cowan, Lauren Dukas, Allison Ware; great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Elliette, Bennett, Payton; special nieces, Connie Maxey of Richmond, Va., Nikki Santerre of Richmond, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends Friday, October 6, 2023 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Mike Dixon and Pastor David Medley officiating. Graveside service will be held privately at Blue Springs Cemetery with Pastor Lane Lowery officiating.
