ELK CREEK, Va. Mona Faye Brown, age 83, died peacefully at her home in Elk Creek, Va., Saturday, September 22, 2018. She was born October 29, 1934 in Elk Creek, the daughter of Hugh and Hattie Hawks Brown. Ms. Brown loved the Lord, and was looking forward to being reunited with many of her friends and family in heaven. Ms. Brown is survived by her sister, Ruth Stanley of Galax; her children, James J. Waller (Amelia), Elizabeth Faye Medeiros (Errol), Deborah Hamm (Larry), and David Randall "Pete" Waller, all of Elk Creek; grandchildren, Kevin Burton, Greg Burton, Michael Hamm Echols, Michelle Tate, Derek Hamm, Jennifer Waller, Doug Waller, and David Waller; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Private burial will be at Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Elk Creek, Va. There will be a private family service to celebrate her life and legacy.
