Chilhowie, Va.
Molly Lucille Byrd, age 87, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Va.
Molly was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was her husband’s right hand at Grissom Motor Parts as well as NAPA and he was hers while they cared for children at their home daycare. She was a devoted Christian, at East End Baptist Church. When she wasn’t working or spending time with family, she loved to play bingo and garden. Molly was best known for having the best canned green beans, so much so that it could start a feud if there wasn’t enough to go around. She had a trip of a lifetime in 1983 to the Holyland with a traveling group alongside her husband, but saved the best trip for last, Heaven. Her passing will leave a big space in the hearts and lives of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie "Papa" Byrd; mother, Mary Hager; brothers, Robert, James, George and Jack Hager; sisters, Mary Breedlove and Irene Martin
Molly is survived by her daughter, Terry Murphy and husband, Billy of Dublin, Va.; sons, Matt Byrd and wife, Julie of Abingdon, Va., Jason Byrd of Marion, Va.; sister, Dovie Vencill of Bel Aire, MD.; grandchild, Alicia Shoemaker; two great-grandchildren, Talen Hammack and Lucas Roller; special niece, Jamie Pike and son, Joshua; special friend, Debby Gilliey; a host of many other loving family and friends.
