Maxine Blevins Olinger

August 26, 1940 — September 15, 2025

Marion, Virginia

Marion, Virginia

Maxine Blevins Olinger age 85, joined her husband in Glory on Monday, September 15, 2025 to be with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Maxine: known by those who loved her as Mackie, Mom, and Granny, was a devoted servant of Jesus and a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed serving her family, church, and community, shining the light of Jesus. She was a lifelong citizen of Smyth County, born and raised in Chilhowie. Later, she settled in Marion with her husband and children. Her years were spent raising her children, spending time with her many nieces and nephews, cooking at Marion Primary School for 28 years, and teaching Sunday school at Falling Water Baptist Church. She also played a huge role in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, listening to her Jesus tapes, loved visiting beaches and often took trips with her family, including her loving husband, precious brothers and sisters, children, and grandchildren. Maxine leaves behind a legacy of strong faith and a loving family. She instilled in all who knew her the Love of Jesus and his people. Her life is a beautiful testimony to her faith, and she continued to praise Jesus during her final days.

“She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand, riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is everyone that retaineth her.” Proverbs 3:15-18 KJV

“Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” Titus 2:12-13 KJV

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Kenneth Mason “Tom” Olinger Sr.; siblings & spouses, Clifton Blevins (Shirley), Esther Greer (David), Lowell Blevins (Betty), Yvonne Sturgill (Paul), Sylvia Freeman & Delores Greer.

Maxine is survived by her children, Kenneth M.
