MARION, Va.
Maureen Ruth Armstrong, age 77, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY, the only daughter of John and Katherine Pisarczyk. She was previously married to the late John Raymond Armstrong. Ruth spent over 30 years of her life in Marion, VA and always served others in and around her community. She was considered a mother by many people, and always opened her home as a place of respite and somewhere to join together for family meals or a warm hug. Ruth was an active member of Highlands Fellowship Church of Marion for many years, serving for a period of time on the production team, and a member of her Small Group.
Ruth leaves behind six children: son, Hans Rupert von Vittinghoff and wife, Amy Young, Rockford, IL; daughter Johna Tuggle and partner, David Powers, Marion, VA; daughter Kathleen Richardson and husband, Jason, Marion, VA; daughter Rebecca Price and fiancé, Alfonso De Leon, Florida; son Reuben Armstrong, Rural Retreat, VA; daughter, Rachel and husband, Sergio Ramirez, Wytheville, VA; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog Abby.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 4 p.m. at Highlands Fellowship Church, 140 Laurel Springs Road, Marion, VA 24354 with Pastor Dave Cross officiating. Everyone attending is asked to wear a mask and follow the COVID-19 Safety & Social Distancing Guidelines as permitted.
