Martha Sexton Coley, age 74, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.

It’s hard to put the life of Martha Coley into words, she loved God, her family and would have done anything for either. Martha was faithful to her church, Gethsemane and enjoyed worshipping with them. Her passion in life was her family, while her boys were playing sports, she was always dressed to support with cowbell in hand. She kept the teams hydrated and full of snacks. Martha was a caregiver to her sons, grandchildren and in her last days, her husband, Roger. God definitely broke the mold when he sent Martha into the world. No more pain, worry or tears, just sonshine and smiles with her family and her Jesus forever in Heaven.  

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Lois Sexton; sister, Sharon Rouse; brother, Odell Sexton; grandchildren, Lindsay Coley, Annabella Coley and Avery Coley.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roger Coley; sons, Chris Coley and Wife, Michele of Chilhowie, Va., Brian Coley of Rural Retreat, Va., Dwayne Coley and wife, Megan, Eric “ET” Coley and wife Becky, of Marion, Va.; brother, Arnold Sexton, of Marion Va.; seven grandchildren, Abby, Dylan, Noah, Bre, Chase, Collin and Myles; three great-grandchildren, Eliza, Kace and Brayden; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 8 p.m. with Pastor Ryan Cox officiating. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Funeral Home by 10:30 a.m. for procession to the graveside.
