Mark McKinnon, age 60, passed away at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Virginia on July 30, 2026.

Mark was a hard worker and excellent provider for his family and family is what meant the most to him. He was a loving husband, he loved being a dad to his children, and a Pawpaw to his grandchildren. Now when he was not loving, he could be stubborn and there is not enough paper or ink to write about that. Mark enjoyed making everyone laugh – there was not enough time to be serious. He was not perfect but who is. His legacy will live on through the lives of his family and friends. Mark will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Monnie Sturgill McKinnon; and his step-mother, Juanita McKinnon.

Mark is survived by his wife, Alice McKinnon, Marion VA; daughters, Amber Goodman, Marion VA, Jordann McKinnon, Glade Spring VA; son, Levi McKinnon (Casi), Sugar Grove VA; son of his heart, Ashton Cress (Andrea), Marion VA; step-daughter, Candice Davis (Clifton), Wytheville VA; step-son, Chris Thomas (Krista), Marion VA; sisters, Debbie Owens (Mike), Marion VA, Gerry Moore (Kenny), Marion VA; brother, Richard “Mac” McKinnon (Edith), Marion VA; grandchildren, Willow Goodman, Elly Cox, Walter McKinnon, Charli McKinnon; step-grandchildren, Eli Thomas, Mahailey Davis, Cody Davis, Khalon Wyatt, Lucus Wyatt; several nieces and nephew; and his special friends, Kenny Moore and Paul Ishihara.

Memorial services will be Tuesday August 4, 2026 at 7 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver Brown Chapel, Marion Va. The Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.
