CHILHOWIE, Va.
Margaret Melissa “Missie” Sexton, age 57, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.
Missie was all heart – she loved being a mom to her boys, a daddy’s girl, and although she and Doug were married 32 years, she did love Doug – he wasn’t in the Top 5, but he remained in the Top 10 – most of the time; she loved her family and friends dearly. If you knew Missie, you would laughingly know she lived on Missie time. She loved her flowers, gardening, being a part of her book club, and photography. Missie loved to travel and started at an early age of 12 by loading up her dad’s van with 9 friends and taking a trip to the Dip Dog. Her life was full of fun and love; her heart was generous and giving. Missie made a mark in this crazy world in many lives, and will be missed by so many.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Elmer and Rose Lee Shores; paternal grandparents, Paul D. and Ruth Taylor; many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends; and all her pets she loved and cared for.
Missie is survived by her husband, Doug Sexton; sons, Dillion Taylor Sexton and girlfriend, Carissa Waller and Gunner Wade Sexton; parents, James and Shelby Taylor, all of Chilhowie, Va.; brother, Christopher Aaron Taylor and wife, Shannon of Abingdon, Va.; mother-in-law, Peggy Sexton and husband, Allen Cornett of Sugar Grove, Va.; father-in-law, Edward Ray Sexton; brother-in-law, Shane Sexton; nephew, Gavin Taylor; nieces, Kiana Sexton, Jenna Sexton and Ashlin Taylor; the special friends who know who you are.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Avery Sheets and Pastor Tom Crise officiating. Burial will be private.
