MARION, Va.

Manuel D. “Jack” Sims, Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Friday, July 20, 2018.

Jack was retired after working at the Marion Correctional Center for 10 years and Southwest Virginia Mental Health Institute for over 30 years. He enjoyed antique cars and watching old western movies and television shows. Above all, Jack was a beloved husband, and a good father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Goodman Sims; and son, Gary Michael Sims.

Jack is survived by three sons, James “Jay” Sims and John Sims, both of Marion Va., and Joe Sims and wife, April of Rural Retreat, Va.; two granddaughters, Kenzie Sims and Kylie Sims; several cousins and one nephew, Billy Maiden.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Round Hill Cemetery, Marion, Va. with Pastor Mike Halsey officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at Seaver-Brown Funeral Home by 10:30 a.m. for procession to the graveside.
