Lawrence Edward Shortridge, age 91, passed away on July 26, 2026 at Ocoee Hermitage Health Center in Elizabethton, Tennessee.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of beloved Lawrence Shortridge, who will be deeply missed. He was a hardworking man who spent many years as a machine operator and driver for the coal mines. He took pride in his work and providing for his family. For those who knew him best, they will remember his fun-loving, joking spirit, and that he could always make people laugh. One of his favorite things was fishing. He loved the peace of being outdoors, spending time by the water, and enjoying simple pleasures in life. Nothing brought him greater happiness than seeing his grandbabies. Their smiles, laughter, and time spent together were precious to him.

He lived a long meaningful life and he will be remembered for the laughter he brought, the family he loved, and the memories he left behind.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Shortridge; two sisters; and one brother.

He was survived by his daughter, Tina Addair; sons, Timothy Shortridge, Tommy Shortridge, Terry Shortridge, Teddy Shortridge along with all their spouses and significant other; sister, Delores Tolbert; multiple grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; and a few great-great-grandchildren.
