MARION, VIRGINIA --- LAURA FLORENCE HUTTON JONES, age 96 of Marion died Saturday, February 21st, 2004 in the Smyth County Community Hospital. Born on December 14th, 1907 in Marion , Mrs. Jones was a member of the Marion Baptist Church and the V.F.W. Lady's Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Jones, Sr. and a son, Robert E. "Bob" Jones, Jr. Surviving are three daughters & sons-in-law, Joanne & Warren Tallent and Charlene & Ronald Burnop all of Marion, Virginia and Linda & Jon Lox of Starkville, Mississippi. One son & two daughters-in-law, Donald D. & Carolyn Calhoun Jones and Patricia Fry Jones , all of Marion, Virginia. One sister, Ida Hutton Blevins of Marion, Virginia. Sixteen grandchildren, Allan D. Jones and Vicki L. Jones, both of Abingdon, Greg Jones of Rich Valley, Kathleen Jones Cook of Denton, North Carolina, Quincy Cal Jones of Phoenix, Arizona, Johnny Wilson of Bristol, Virginia , Todd Wilson and Scott Burnop, both of Marion, Leanne Burnop Fisher of Hardy, Virginia , Brad Fry of Marion, Robert Fry of Augusta, Georgia, Michael Tallent of Mableton, Georgia , Danny Tallent of Abingdon, Greg Tallent of Sterling, Colorado, Nell Lox Valentine of Starksville, Mississippi and Jon H. Lox of New York City, New York. Eighteen great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, February 23rd at 7:00 p.m. at the Marion Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Ross and the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Committal services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 til 6:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
