Larry C. Barker age 76, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Virginia.

Larry Barker was a familiar face to many people. As an auto parts salesman for Napa, Grissom Motors & Autozone, he knew his way around a car. His favorite being the 64 Chevy Impala he restored. When he wasn’t busy with a car he enjoyed fishing, watching tv – especially crime dramas, Judge Judy, Nascar, baseball and football. Larry loved learning & the history of Troutdale was a favorite topic of study & conversation. Larry’s favorite people were the ones who called him “papaw”, if you happened to just sit a spell on the porch with him, you’d hear all about them. Always the jokester, he liked knowing his teasing & jokes brought a smile to someone. Simply put, Larry was a good guy who is going to be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Barker Carter; parents, Willie Norman & Della Barker.

Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Monnie Barker; son Arthur Barker & wife, Amy; grandchildren, Brittney King, Austin Barker, Ethan Barker, Isaac Barker & Gracie Barker; great-grandchild, Breanna Prescott; many cousins; special friends, Al Blevins, Joe & Becky Tuell; & a host of many other friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 14, 2025 from 5 until 6 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion, Va. Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. with Blake Frazier officiating.
