MARION, Va. KATHERINE KIRBY, age 87, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at the Runk & Pratt Retirement Village at Smith Mountain Lake, Hardy, Va. Mrs. Kirby was born and raised in Sugar Grove, Va. and grew up a part of The Sugar Grove Gang. She married her high school sweetheart, Charlie; and before he passed, they were married for more than 60 years. Katherine loved her family and friends very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Monroe Kirby; parents, Wiley and Linda Medley; siblings, Ed, Bookie, and Garland Medley. Katherine is survived by her sons, Charles M. Kirby, Jr. and wife, Linda of Richmond, Va. and Ronnie Kirby and wife, Doris of Rocky Mount, Va.; four granddaughters, Amy Kirby, Kristina Flanagan and husband, Patrick, Courtney Spurlock and husband, Dan, and Lindsey Albertson and husband, Stephen; great grandsons, Wyatt and Walker Spurlock, and Grady Albertson; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum with Pastor David Medley officiating.
