Marion, Virginia

Judith “Judy” Cornette Cregger age 84, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Commonwealth Senior Living, Abingdon, Va.

Judy was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother. As a young adult she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir. In her adulthood she was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church in Marion. Her life was a wonderful example of Christian kindness, showing compassion and care to all. Judy was a friendly face at the Bank of Marion, working there for 48 years making many friends and life-long memories along the way before retiring to stay home and take care of her grandsons, whom she loved dearly. Judy was beautiful, inside and out. She cherished her neighborhood and the friendships made over the years. Sending and receiving cards for any occasion was a delight to Judy, who always responded to any card she received. A hard working lady – often behind the scenes; she always kept herself busy, whether she was working at the bank, helping her husband, or cleaning the house. Judy Cregger leaves a legacy of faith, love and kindness that her family will cherish.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Buford C. Cregger Sr.; son, Buford “Clayton” Cregger, Jr.; mother, Helen Lyon; father, Burchelle Cornette; step-mother, Joyce Cornette.

Judy is survived by her son, Brian Cregger and wife, Brandi; grandchildren, Isaiah Cregger and Josef Cregger, all of Marion, Va.; sister, Becky Catron of Rural Retreat, Va.; nephew, Chris Catron of Rural Retreat, Va.; special friends, Ruby Davidson and Sharon Hayes.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Commonwealth Senior Living and MSA Home Health & Hospice, both of Abingdon, Va.
