Joseph W. Hall, Sr, age 87 passed away on Sunday November 23, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born August 16, 1938, in Marion, VA. He was the youngest child of Henrietta and Noah Hall. Joe graduated high school in Marion, VA in 1958. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Wytheville Community College at the age of 50. Joe held many positions throughout his work-life serving the public in various capacities. His last position was as a physical therapy assistant which he found extremely rewarding and his patients appreciated his skill and compassion. He was a member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church for more than 66 years. Positions held by Joe included Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, choir member, youth choir sponsor, trustee and deacon. One of his favorite church activities was representing the church on disaster recovery mission trips. Another joy for him was playing softball on a church league until his mid-50s. Joe had a great appreciation for music and shared his gift of guitar playing on many occasions. He played with several groups, but his favorite place to play was in his home for his family especially during the holidays. Followed by his faith, family was Joe’s most important focus. Margaret and Joe’s marriage was one of 66 years because of a deep abiding love and commitment to growing together through hard times and good.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by 6 brothers and a sister: Giles, Garland, Garnet, Granville, Carrie, Marvin and Lester Hall; as well as his beloved grandson, Reece Byrd; and nephews Kevin Hall and David Bourhill.
