MARION, Va.
Joseph Phillip “Joe” Blevins, age 80, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie, Va.
Joe P., “a jack of all trades and a master of none” as he would say, was always generous with his “bride” and three sons; as well as his friends, and he was willing and able. There was nothing he could not create, fix, or provide with the strength of his hands and the gentleness of his artistry – he created homes, furniture, asphalt driveways, and family. He made his family feel safe and cherished by just being as he was. His family is blessed in that they can see examples of his artistry surrounding them at home and in the area. Whether it was racing on a country road, receiving one of many speeding tickets, telling a big story or joke, or watching Gunsmoke, he loved and enjoyed his life to its fullest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Dudley and Mary Crewey Blevins; brothers, Dudley, Leon, David Harold, James, John L. and Bobby Blevins; sisters, Sarah Jane Hash and Mary Elizabeth Blevins.
Joe P. is survived by his wife, Judy Blevins; sons, Phillip Blevins, Mark Blevins, and Darren Blevins and wife, Leah, all of Marion, Va.; brother, Howard Franklin Blevins and wife, Gracie Mae of Canyon, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Laurel Springs Methodist Church Cemetery, 653 Laurel Springs Road, Marion VA 24354, with Mr. Richard Copeland officiating.
