John C. Sims

John C. Sims age 59, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, March 13, 2023.

John was born in Marion in 1963 to the late Jack & Betty Sims. He was a graduate of Marion Senior High School & a life-long resident of Marion. He had a soft-heart for animals & often fed strays in the community. John enjoyed spending time with friends, but his favorite thing was fishing. Give him some bait, a fishing pole and a back-roads, well-hidden fishing hole and he was in heaven-on-earth. John’s big smile & the twinkle in his eye as he told about “the one that got away,” will be missed by his friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Michael Sims; and grandparents, Rebecca Jane Sims, James O. & Elma Jean Goodman.

John is survived by two brothers, Joseph Simms & wife, April of Rural Retreat, Va., and James Sims of Marion, Va.; two nieces, Kenzie Simms and Kylie Simms; and special friend, Kevin “Ollie” Edgar.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Round Hill Cemetery, Marion, Va.
