John David Nummerdor age 67, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.

John was a 1974 graduate of West Bend East High School (Wisconsin.) Born in Milwaukee in 1956, John lived for the great outdoors. Camping, fishing, hunting – it was his happy place. Recently he and his wife, Chris made a new home in Southwest Virginia, but Wisconsin was always in their hearts. If there is one thing everyone knew about John, it’s that he had a heart of gold. Errands took forever because he would run into friends everywhere. A trail angel on the Appalachian Trail, he spread the kindness wherever he went. John leaves behind a legacy of love, and he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Marilyn Nummerdor; step-father, Richard Edwards; and his grandparents.

John is survived by his wife, Chris Nummerdor of Saltville, Va.; daughters, Mikaela Nummerdor of West Bend, Wis., and Amy Kate Mahaney of Glenn Hills, NY; siblings, Michael Nummerdor of Campbellsport, Wis., Robert Nummerdor, Donald Nummerdor, Jr. and Sally Cochran, all of West Bend, Wis.; grandchildren, Patrick Shakar and wife, Victoria of Camp LeJune, N.C. and Devin Shakar of Glenn Hills, N.C.; one great-grandchild, Adeline Shakar; several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no public services.
