MARION, Va.

John David Greear, born December 20, 1949 in Marion, Virginia, died March 12, 2026. His father and mother were David A. Greear and Virginia Greear.

After graduation from Marion High School, John was a helicopter mechanic for the U.S. Army in Viet Nam and in the United States. He was a flight instructor and airplane mechanic at airports in this area for years.

John was the most wonderful friend and brother. We know him for his calm judgment and his wise counsel.

His parents’ deaths preceded his. He survived by his sister Jean Greear.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday March 21, 2026 at 2 P.M. at Grant Cemetery, Flat Ridge Road Troutdale, Virginia, 24378. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
