Joan Alexander Evans,79, passed away Wednesday April 8, 2026 at her home in Sugar Grove, Virginia.

Joan’s number one passion was horses. She always loved to “lose herself” in riding throughout the country. For over 10 years she was a camp host at Fox Creek Horse Camp. She worked at Smyth Family Physicians where she was the receptionist until she was forced to retire at 76 due to her health. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Irene “Gaga” Totty.

Joan is survived by her significant other and dear friend, Ed Tiller; daughters, Tracy Locklear and Ginger Sheets and husband Stephen; sisters, Agnes and Mildred; grandchildren, Bronson, Ashlei, and Noah Locklear and Landon Day (Lisa Hodges) and Dillon Day; special friends, Sam and Kathy Clark, Jenna Ward, and Lynn McKinney; and also fur babies, Dundee and Daisy Mae.

In keeping with Joan’s wishes, there will be no services.
