Jim Hutchinson better known as “Hutch” of South Daytona, Florida passed away at age 90, Monday June 30, 2025.
Hutch was born on September 27, 1934 in Norfolk Virginia. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. He was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, as an aviator for six years after college. Mr Hutchinson then worked for Brunswick Corporation for thirty years. He retired as Vice President of Operations for the Brunswick Defense Division in 1994. A friend of all, Hutch never met a stranger. He loved to follow his Virginia Tech Hokies football team and the Mountains of Southwest Virginia. He was an active former member of the Marion Jaycees, Virginia Tech Hokie Club, Brother at Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, VT Cotillion Club, Daytona Beach Quarterback Club, University Club as well as the Halifax River Yacht club.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy (Shuler) and second wife, Rita (Tolliver.)
Hutch is survived by his loving partner of 18 years, Annette Sirkin; one daughter, Robin Gjoerloff and husband, Harold; sisters-in-law Patty Canter and Shirley Ferguson of Virginia.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, 4410 Lee Highway, Marion VA with Blake Frazier officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Funeral Honors Guard & Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. Family & friends are asked to meet at the graveside at 10:45 a.m.
