Jerry Lawrence Young, age 85, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.

Jerry always had a smile and a friendly word for anybody and everybody. He was a generous man with his time and heart – if you needed something and Jerry knew it, he would help. Jerry adored his family – he loved his wife Brenda and they both were crazy about their son Eric and his wife and their kids. As difficult as Jerry’s life was in his last days, he never complained. He thanked the Lord for his blessings and a Heavenly home that awaited him. Jerry was a proud deacon and follower of Christ, and is now pain free with Jesus and his loved ones in Heaven.

He was preceded in death by his wife Brenda Barker Young; granddaughter, Lainey Young; parents, Lawrence and Lena Young; brother, Jack Young (Mable); sisters, Janice Meadows and Phyllis Sheets.

Jerry is survived by his son Eric Young (Robin) of Abingdon, Va.; and grandchildren Emeri Young, Rowan Young and Hudson Young; sister, Peggy Townsend of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; several nieces and nephews and their families.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion Va. Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m. with Pastor Tim Boyette & Pastor Paul Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 7614 Troutdale Road, Troutdale VA.
