Jeffrey "Jeff" Hutton, Sr.

Jeffrey “Jeff” Hutton Sr. age 84, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va.

Jeff was an amazing man to his family – he was a loving husband to Eva Mae for 62 years, a fun dad and pepaw to his children and grandchildren, and a good friend to many. Jeff had his priorities straight – faith, family and country. He was a servant leader at Marion Baptist Church where he sung in the choir, was a past chairman of deacons, Sunday school teacher to many children who kept in touch who remained in touch with their own children. Jeff was a financial leader and transportation director. As an ordained minister, Jeff would fill the pulpit when he was called upon to do so. He worked for many years and provided well for his family in food services at the Southwestern State Hospital. Jeff loved his country and was a leader in the national and local Republican Party. Jeff was a good man, who was actually a big kid – every night he had to have his chocolate brownie and ice cream. Jeff Hutton made a difference in his country, and he will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Wayne Hutton; mother and step-father, Marigold Hutton and Preacher Romans; aunt, Roxie Belle Robinson; uncle, Alvin Salyers.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Eva Mae Pafford Hutton of Marion, Va.; daughter, Jody Whorton and husband, Jimmy of Bristol, Va.; sons, Bennett “Ben” Hutton and wife, Sandy, and Jeffrey “Jay” Hutton, Jr. all of Marion, Va.; half-sister, Sharon Hutton; half-brother, Richard Hutton; grandchildren, Nakoma Hutton and Dominque A. McCall; six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Joe Pafford and wife, Shirley; nephews, Eddie Haga and Jimmy Haga and their families; many more cousins, nieces, nephews and their families; special friends, Garry Smith, Ken and Betsy Hall, Adam Talbert.

Family will receive friends Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Marion Baptist Church, 1258 North Main Street, Marion Va. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Charles Stewart officiating. Burial will be private.
