Jean O. Dishner, 80, of Graham, N.C., went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday November 1, 2025 at AuthoraCare Hospice Home in Burlington, NC.
A native of Marion, VA, she was the wife of 55 years to the late William Herman “Bill” Dishner, Jr. and the daughter of George Milburn Owens and Pauline Cregger Owens, both deceased. Jean attended Atkins Primary School, Marion Sr. High School, and Marion College. Jean was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and so much more to all of her family. Anyone that knew her, knew her kind and loving spirit and her desire to brighten someone’s day. She continued Bill’s coin ministry to veterans, thanked law enforcement, fire and EMT’s with a card and a smile and sent cards of encouragement to all she knew. She retired from Graham Presbyterian Church Playschool after 30 years of service where she touched the lives of many children. She was a long time member of Graham Presbyterian Church where she was a faithful servant. She was also willing to volunteer where needed and felt blessed to actively work in the gardens and natural areas all around the church building.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Betsi Lynne Dishner Kizziah (Barry) of Burlington, Beth Anne Dishner Smith (Ron) of Burlington; her son, William Chad Dishner (April) of Burlington; grandchildren, William Caleb Dishner (Michaela), Cassidy Paige Kizziah (John Teague), Sidney Anne Dishner Bartlett (Chad), Ragan Nichole Kizziah Swain (Coleman), Grayson Olivia Dishner Crea (Grayson), Ronnie Dean Smith (Leah) and Jacob Alexander Smith (Amanda); a great granddaughter, Addison Lee Dishner; sister, Linda Owens Blevins; three brothers, James R. “Jim” Owens, Jesse L. Owens (Lisa), and Lester B. Owens; sisters-in-law, Judy Owens and Tessie Hayes; brothers-in-law, Clifton “Bimbo” Blevins, Bill Dunavant, and Patrick L. Dishner (Jan); and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by a sister, Janice O. Taylor; brother, George T. “Tom” Owens; sisters-in-law, Ruth D. Dunavant and Debra M. Owens; brother-in-law, Bill Taylor; grandson, Jamison Dalton; and two nephews, Jamie Owens and Kent Taylor.
A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Dishner’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Graham Presbyterian Church with the family receiving friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. in the Graham Presbyterian Church sanctuary. The family will also receive family and friends at the home, 126 Andrews Avenue, Graham, NC 27253 Friday, November 7, 2025 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Graham Presbyterian Chuch, 216 W. Harden Street, Graham, NC 27253.
