Janie Etta Rich, age 86, passed away at Francis Marion Manor in Marion, VA on September 6, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Larkin and Virgie Greer; husband, Roy Rich; daughter, Lisa Carol Rich; and 9 brothers and sisters.

Janie is survived by her daughter, Neta Thompson (Dave); son, Willie Rich (Deborah); grandson, Jamie Thompson (Tracie); great-grandson, Austin Thompson (Morgan) and Tyler Thompson; great-great-grandchildren, Everlee Ruth Thompson and Lilly Grace Thompson; one very, very special niece; caregiver, Rhonda Stamper; her whole family; and a very special granddaughter, Chasity Mae Combs.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Thompson, Austin Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Bryan Greer, Kelly Campbell, and Jeremy Stamper. Honorary Pallbearers include Keith Combs and Roger Dennison.

The family would like to give a very special thanks to all the staff and friends at Francis Marion Manor.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday September 8, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at Thomas Cemetery, 607 Thomas Bridge Rd, Marion, Virginia, 24354 with Bob Surber officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver Brown Chapel with procession to follow.
