James Oxendine, age 71, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.

James was a loving husband, father and papaw. When he wasn’t working, he was tinkering on a car, playing pool or catching up on NASCAR. He was a jokester who was always high on life, but if you needed anything, James would give you the shirt off his back.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Oxendine; son, James “Jimmy” Oxendine; and step-granddaughter, Tesla Hill.

James is survived by his son, Stephen Oxendine and wife, Amy of Marion, Va.; step-daughter, Tina Hill of High Point, N.C.; sisters, Christine Ray and husband, Wayne of Lexington, N.C. and Marie Baker and husband, Norman of Ala.; brother, Curtis Oxendine and wife, Debbie of Lexington, N.C.; grandchildren, Corey Oxendine and Courtney Oxendine both of Marion, Va.; and step-grandchild, Kayla Hill of High Point, N.C.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. in Resurrection Gardens, Atkins, Va.
