James Howard Martin ,89, passed away Tuesday March 3, 2026 at Johnson City Medical Center.

He is preceded in death by his spouse, Sylvia Martin; his parents, Curtis and Hallie Martin; and his brother, Curtis Martin Jr.

James is survived by his sisters, Betty Akers and Donna Lester; brothers, William Roger Martin and Wesley Martin and wife, Ruth; Several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Maxine Crewey.

A special thank you is sent out to the staff at The Waters in Bristol.

Graveside services will be held Friday March 6, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Grosses Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 307 Grosses Creek Rd. Chilhowie, VA with Pastor George Jessie officiating. Military Rites conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m.
