Irma J. Roop age 89, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.

Irma was a loving wife, mom, g-ma and friend. Family was what kept her going – she loved it every holiday when everyone would get together. Irma had a fun loving personality – except when she needed to tell you what was on her mind. She loved shopping whether in the store or on QVC. When she wasn’t charging that debit card or with family, she enjoyed watching westerns, reading cookbooks, looking at old red trucks and cardinals. Irma was a lady and a fighter – she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Rosella Youngblood; first husband, Cecil Ray Funk; second husband, Daton Roop; son, Don Funk; stepsons, David Roop, Danny Roop, and Billy Funk.

Irma is survived by two daughters, Tina Roop of Lansing, N.C, and April Flanagan of Jefferson, N.C.; sons, Jeff Funk and wife, Jessica of Woodbridge, Va., Gordon Funk and wife, Dana of Jefferson, N.C., and Brian Roop of Whitetop, Va.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Irma’s wishes, all services will be private.
