Frank Ivan Detweiler age 85, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025 at his home.
Frank Ivan Detweiler was a restorer of old properties and collector of artifacts. He loved his family, friends and his home of Holston Mills. During his many busy and productive years, he built, rescued, renovated, preserved and reflected on history and nature. He wrote, published, studied, collected, fished, hiked, climbed, repaired, created and brought history to life. His last moments were spent peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family. Frank Detweiler will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis M. & Mildred C. Detweiler.
Frank is survived by his wife, Frances Halsey Detweiler of Marion, Va.; daughter, Susan Reeve (David) of Harrisburg, Penn.; son, Jonathan Detweiler of Groningen, The Netherlands; five grandchildren, Jonathan and Yeni Reeve of Marion, Va., Nayeli Reeve of Harrisburg, Penn., Dominika Detweiler and Annelies Detweiler of Langley British Columbia, Canada; and the mother of his children, Karen Detweiler.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 12, 2025 from 1 until 2 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion, VA. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. Charles Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Cemetery #2, 868 Adwolfe Road, Marion VA (across from the Adwolfe Fire Department).
