Frances H. Crewey Detweiler passed away on Tuesday April 21, 2026 at her home in Marion, Virginia.

Frances was born in Grayson County, and in 1949 she married Johnny Crewey. They were married 43 years when he passed in 1992. Frances was a faithful member of Marion Baptist Church where she not only worked as church secretary, but for 45 years she was the church organist. She loved making music and was an enthusiastic member and conductor of the Joyful Noise Choir for several years. If Frances wasn’t busy with the church or music she enjoyed crosswords, reading, spending time with friends and giving good advice. Heaven’s music is sounding sweeter with Frances joining, and she is missed by those she left behind.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband of 32 years, Frank I. Detweiler; her parents, Benjamin & Edith Halsey; brother, Bill Halsey; sister, Elizabeth Hyland; and grandson, Sam Nelson.

Frances is survived by her son, John David Crewey and wife, Jane; step-children, Jonathan Detweiler, Susan Reeve and husband, David; grandchildren, Jonathan and Yeni Reeve, Dominica and Annelies Detweiler, and Nayeli Reeve; great-grandchild, Elizabeth Crew Nelson; special caregivers, Jaimie Harris, Stephanie Mabe, and Donna Hogan; several nieces, nephews and their families; a host of special friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends Sunday April 26, 2026 from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. at Marion Baptist Church, 1258 North Main Street, Marion, Va. Funeral services will begin at 4 P.M. with Charles Stewart officiating. Burial services will be Monday April 27, 2026 at 11 A.M. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, 4410 Lee Highway, Marion Va. Family and friends are asked to meet at Fraziers’ Seaver Brown Funeral Home at 10:15.
