Frances Irene Dean

MARION, Va.

Frances Irene "Sam" Dean, age 76, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her home.

Sam was a loving mom and momaw to her grandchildren and the decades of children she cared for while their parents were working. She simply loved children. Sam's favorite thing to pass the time was stay connected with family and friends on her tablet, or reading books. She will be very missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Dean; parents, George L. and Amanda McGuire Remines; brothers, Robert Remines, Erin J. Remines, Kenneth E. Remines and Luther C. "Chick" Remines.

Sam is survived by her sons, Walter E. Patton, Jr. and wife, Sherry of Dickson, Tenn., John K. Patton and wife, Amy of Marion, Va.; daughter, Robin L. Blevins and husband, Keenan of Shady Valley, Tenn.; sisters, Elizabeth Bandy and husband, Harold of Marion, Va., Cathy Carner and husband, Ed of Tazewell, Va.; brothers, George Remines of Tazewell, Va., Roy Remines and wife, Debbie of Bishop, Va., and Randy E. Remines of Tazewell, Va.; grandchildren, Meagan Anderson, Tiffany Patton, Ashley Patton, Colton Craft, Nathan Patton, Hannah Patton and Caleb Patton; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Special thank you to her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Harold Bandy for helping her so much these last few years. We appreciate you more than you know.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Grandview Memory Gardens, 38659 Gov. G.C. Peery Hwy., Bluefield, Va. 24605, with Reverend Alan Gray officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Royal Oak Presbyterian Youth Ministry, 139 West Main Street, Marion, Va. 24354.
