Marion, Virginia
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ella Fayne “Faye” Hash, Sunday, December 28, 2025 at her home.
Faye was born January 13, 1937 in the small coal mining town of Hemphill, West Va. to the late Oscar and Routha Cox. While in West Va. she worked at a movie theater and as a telephone operator. She met her future husband Jim Hash in 1956 and in 1957 she and Jim were married in Wyoming County, West Va. They were married for 65 years until his passing in 2022. Together they raised 3 boys and in 1967 made their home in Marion, Va. where Faye worked in several factories before finding her calling as a CNA., working at SWVMHI for 29 years. Her love, care and compassion for those she took care of shined through in even the most difficult of moments. Faye was a member of the Adwolfe Extension Homemakers and Smyth County Extension Homemakers Club, holding offices in both. She enjoyed the get-togethers and lunches with the other club members. Faye never wanted to pass up a flea market, farmers market or yard sale. Her favorite color was green, her favorite flowers were Fuchsia, Foxglove and orange Poppies. Faye loved watching the birds from her window, especially her yellow finches. For many years Faye raised a big vegetable garden, and could not wait to make everyone fried green tomatoes and squash. She loved being with family, get-togethers or vacations, it did not matter as long as it was family. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting and the quilts she made she gifted to those she loved. Faye was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Our “mamaw”, “mommaw” and “granny” leaves behind a legacy of wonderful memories and her love, humor, wit and kind, gentle spirit will continue to live on.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Glenn “Jim” Hash; sister, Marion Feller; brothers, Merle, Harold and Bill.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Kenneth “Kenny” Hash, Timothy “Tim” Hash, Christopher “Chris” Hash and wife, Jennifer, all of Marion, Va.; grandchildren, Jason Hash and wife Sarah, Casey Chapman and husband, Ryan, Heather Wilson and husband, Wyatt, and Caden Hash; great-grandchildren, Landon Wilson, Paizlee Wilson, Jake Hash, Carson Hash, Tripp Hash and Georgia-Kate Hash; special cousin, Jim Cox and wife, Juanita of Bristol, Va.; several nieces and nephews and their families; and many beloved friends.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Caris Hospice for their care and support during this time.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 31, 2025 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion Va.
