Gail B. McCord

MARION, Va.

Gail B. McCord, age 87, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va.

She was born March 18, 1935 in Bluefield, W.Va. to the late Easley and Minnie Mills Bailey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Una B. Watson and husband, Clyde, and Doris Mitchem; and brother, Elmo "Sonny" Bailey and wife, Irene.

Gail is survived by her husband, Ronald L. McCord of Marion, Va.; daughter, Sandra Kay Yonts and husband, James, Jr. of Marion, Va.; son, Ronald L. McCord, Jr. and wife, Laurice of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Glenna Nelson and husband, Max of Huntington, W.Va., and Deloris "Boots" Poff of Bluefield, W.Va.; brother, Richard R. Bailey and wife, Lynda of Eden, N.C.; six grandchildren, James Yonts, III, Christopher Yonts, Jason Yonts, Meagan Waddell, Austin McCord, and Emalee McCord; four great-grandchildren, Grayson Yonts, Sophia Yonts, Elijah Crone and Emerald Crone; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 11 a.m. in Wassum Cemetery, 5549-5557 Lee Highway, Atkins, Va. 24311. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. at Royal Oak Presbyterian Church, 139 West Main Street, Marion, Va. 24354 with the Reverend Dr. Alan Gray officiating. A reception at the church will follow the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Royal Oak Presbyterian Church, Attn: Treasurer, 139 West Main Street, Marion, Va. 24354.
