WAUKEGAN, IL

Dwayne Thomas Ferguson, 63, of Waukegan, IL, passed away suddenly on July 5, 2026. He was the son of James and Mary Ferguson. Dwayne grew up in Waukegan, IL along the shores of Lake Michigan where he developed a lifelong appreciation of the outdoors and the simple joys of life.

He was known for his love of fishing and the great outdoors. He also had a deep appreciation for a good home cooked meal, especially when shared with family.

Throughout his life, Dwayne faced struggles with mental health and addiction. Despite these hardships, he remained a person of genuine heart, resilience, and moments of warmth that toughed those around him. His family remembers him for his humor, his appreciation of life’s simple joys, and the way he tried, again and again, to find his footing.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Ellen (Ward) Ferguson of Cedar Springs, VA; his brother, Richard Alan Ferguson of West Allis, WI; his sister, Shannon (Sean) Adamczyk of Kenosha, WI; niece, Jasmine Leigh; nephews, Jacob Adamczyk and Steven Heibner; great-niece, Zoe May; great-nephews, Logan James, David Skylar and Nolan Elias; aunts, Martha Perkins, Willena (and John) Pruitt, Delores Jones and Tammy Ferguson; uncle, Harvey Ward; numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas Ferguson; grandparents, Earl and Okie Ward and William and Tessie Ferguson; aunts, Lorena Tilson, Helen Mize, Brenda Jean Ferguson and Vada Christine Ferguson; uncle, Marvin Glenn Ward.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 @ 2 PM at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel, Marion, VA with Blake Frazier officiating. There will be a private graveside.
