Douglas W. Testerman

Douglas W. Testerman age 62, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at his home with family and several friends by his side after a long lung illness.

Doug was a longtime charter member of Sugar Grove Life Saving Crew, a member of Sugar Grove Fire Department, and also worked with Marion Life Saving Crew, dedicating 40 years of service to the community. He was the Safety and Environmental Coordinator for American Furniture and when he wasn’t working or volunteering Doug enjoyed watching his sports, especially football and softball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Norma Testerman; sister, Faye Ford & husband, Mick; father-in-law, Carl Parsons, Jr.; sister-in-law, Betty Testerman; brother-in-law, Joe Thompson.

Doug is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lora P. Testerman; son, Travis Testerman and wife, Jill; mother-in-law, Anne Parsons, all of Sugar Grove, Va.; brother, Jim Testerman of Marion Va.; sister, Delores McBirney and husband, Richard of Columbia, Md.; brother-in-law, Sam Parsons and wife, Mary of Sugar Grove, Va.; sister-in-law, Deborah Thompson of Sugar Grove, Va.; grandson and apple of his life, Levi Testerman of Sugar Grove, Va.; several nieces, nephews and their families; brother at heart, Johnnie Greer of Woodstock, Va.; special friends, Dr. Jim Patterson, Jimmy Shupe, Mike Hayes, Joan Farmer, Bobby Combs, Stephanie Jones and Don Greer.

Special Thanks to Don and Trish Greer for all their help, the staff of Wythe Hospice of SWVa, especially Mary Parks, Dr. Clampitt and staff, and the staff of Richardson Ambulance Service.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 3 until 5 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 5 p.m. with Pastor Harry Howe officiating. Burial will be private in Hutton-Cox Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sugar Grove EMS.
