Marion, Va.
Diane McThenia, affectionately nicknamed “Diney” by her family, went to her heavenly home on August 29, 2026. She was born September 17, 1957, to the late Benny and Drema Robinson.
Diane was a sweet and caring soul who loved the Lord and her family. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she found comfort in knowing that God was with her every step of the way. She was a proud and faithful member of Marion Baptist Church. She faced many physical limitations in her life, but those limitations only strengthened the love, kindness and goodness she shared with others. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her sweet spirit, and the special place she held in the hearts of her family and friends.
Some of Diane’s favorite things included her furry companion, Dexter, who crossed the rainbow bridge, binge watching the TV show Law and Order SUV, and Hershey kisses washed down with an ice cold Coca Cola. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors with golf being one of her favorite hobbies when she was younger. One of her proudest moments was her hole in one at the Holston Hills Golf Club. The one thing that brought her the most joy was spending time with her family and friends. She cherished the memories of growing up with five sisters and then being an aunt to her nieces and nephews. Diane was especially grateful and thankful for her sister, Sherry, who was her devoted and selfless caretaker for many years.
Diane was preceded in death by her mother, Drema Robinson; her father, Benny Robinson; and her sister, Debby Robinson.
Left to cherish her memory are her four sisters, Sherry Hester and husband Gary, Lisa Taylor and husband David, Sonja Smith and husband Randy, and Christie Turner and husband Kevin; nine nephews and nieces, Brent Hester (Sarah), Landon Smith (Carol), Kayla Winebarger (Julius), JD Taylor (Casey), Jacob Smith (Kellie), Ben Taylor (Dakota), Corey Turner (Katie), Rachel Smith, and Vannah Shouse; and several great nephews and great nieces. Also left to cherish her memory are her special friends Sylvia “Cricket” Rose, Ruthie Bishop, Susan Bush Stewart, and Mary Rose Boehm.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Valley Healthcare for the care Diane received while she was a resident. Diane was blessed to have a wonderful roommate, Mary Waskey, during her last few months, and held a special bond with her housekeeper, Marie Hubble.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Marion Baptist Church on Friday, September 4th, 2026 at 3:00 pm.
