MARION, Va.
A very special spunky lady passed from this world on January 31, 2026. She left for her daughters lots of notes to guide them after her passing including the following hand-written modest obituary:
Carol Scott Snider, age 85, of Marion, VA died at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband and life-partner, Blake T. Snider, her parents, Robert Kyle and Willie Wolfe Scott, a special sister and brother-in-law, Betty S. and Don Hayes, cherished niece, Sandra L. Surber, her brother and friend, Randall Kyle Scott and sister-in-law, Wanda H. Scott and her daughter, Becky Edmiston.
Surviving are her loving daughters, Angela S. Comer (Tim) and Julie A. Snider, one beloved ‘main squeeze’ grandson, Trey Thomas Owens, great grandchildren, Aiden, Alexis, Cayleigh, and Aira, nephew Bryan K. Scott, and a very special great niece, Krystal S. Malone (Patrick) and kids Amelia and Jordan. Several other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and MANY precious friends also survive.
Per Carol’s request, there will be no public service or visitation. Interment will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. It was her wish that memorials be in the form of some act of kindness to someone in need. If you prefer, monetary gifts may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 4317 Lee Hwy, Marion, VA or to St. Jude Children’s Research hospital.
Carol grew up in and loved the Hutton Branch community, was a member of the former Centenary United Methodist Church, worked briefly at Brunswick Corporation, became a homemaker and later a caregiver for many years. She collected people and connected to many through her favorite genealogy hobby.
She wrote, “No accolades! Those who care, already know!”
Her daughters invite you to a gathering with lots of laughs, memories, music, and food compliments of Mom. It will be a wonderful summer afternoon, August,18, 2026, 5-8 PM at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church fellowship patio (address above).
